Episodic Virtual Care

In 2023, PHSA and the Ministry of Health quietly created a bid to allow large corporations to be granted special funding to provide virtual medical care to patients. This was done without consulting physicians in BC. We led a grass-roots movement and created this non profit to oppose the corportization of medicine and medical care. CTV wrote an excellent article about the events that unfolded. There has since been no update about the provincial episodic virtual care program. Physician IT Platform

There have been repeated calls by physicians for a communications platform to be created or adopted to enable better collaboration between healthcare providers in both clinical and non clinical projects. Activities range from scheduling emergency department shifts, quality improvement projects, and modernizing our medical system. We have been supporting a volunteer group of physician leaders who have spearheaded this project, and are currently in the stage of obtaining funding through Shared Care. If you are interested in becoming an early adopter, or want to provide your own insights, please contact Dr Richard Welsh.
